GLAYのヴォーカリストとして30年以上にわたり音楽活動を続けるTERUは、近年、音楽活動と併せて絵画においても独自の創作活動を展開しています。GLAYは日本を代表するロックバンドのひとつで、1990年代から数千万枚のレコードを売り上げ、単独の有料公演としては当時世界記録となる約20万人を動員するなど、その存在感を国内外に示しました。
TERUの創作は故郷・函館に深く根ざし、個人的な表現にとどまらず、地域文化の振興や次世代アーティストへの継続的な支援へと広がっています。音楽と視覚芸術という異なる表現の言語を自在に行き来しながら、彼は函館を中心に、独自の視点から育まれる文化の循環と創造の連鎖を生み出し続けています。

In addition to his three-decade career as the vocalist of GLAY, one of Japan’s most iconic rock bands — known for selling tens of millions of records from the 1990s onward, and for drawing approximately 200,000 people to a single ticketed concert, a world record at the time — TERU has in recent years developed a parallel practice in painting.
Rooted in his hometown of Hakodate, his work extends beyond individual expression to embrace regional cultural initiatives and sustained support for emerging artists. Navigating between the distinct languages of music and visual art, he cultivates an evolving cycle of culture and a resonant chain of creativity centered on Hakodate — shaped by his singular perspective.
